Investigação epidemiológica em indivíduos portadores de fendas labiais e/ou palatinas

Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo a investigação epidemiológica na ocorrência das fendas labiais e/ou palatinas(FL/P) em pacientes atendidos na Faculdade de Odontologia de São José dos Campos - SP num período correspondente a dois anos. A fenda labial(FL) esteve presente em 26,4% dos mesmos, a fenda palatal(FP) em 5,7% e a fenda labiopalatal(FLP) em 68%; os homens corresponderam a 58,5% enquanto que as mulheres estiveram presentes em 41,5% dos casos. A média de idade dos pais e das mães foi de 30 e 25 anos respectivamente, relacionadas à época do nascimento do filho afetado. Quanto a ordem de nascimento, o primogênito teve um comprometimento de 38,3% e a recorrência familiar foi evidenciada em 34% dos casos. A presença de fatores teratogênicos durante a gravidez foi relacionada em 21,3% dos pacientes.
